Congressman William Timmons (SC-04) released the following statement on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine:

“Overnight, Vladimir Putin ordered a full-scale offensive military invasion of Ukraine in direct violation of international law. Let’s call this exactly what it is: a murderous tyrant invading a sovereign country with the goal of reestablishing the Soviet bloc. The Biden Administration and Congress should use every economic sanction tool at our disposal to immediately isolate and degrade the Russian economy and leadership. We need strong American leadership, and we need it now. We saw the consequences of weakness in Afghanistan last year—it must stop here in Ukraine.”
