Thank you for your interest in our internship program. Internships in a congressional office offer a unique, fast-paced experience and provide hands-on exposure to the legislative process. Interns are a vital part of our team and must be adaptable and flexible, as responsibilities vary from day to day.
Intern duties may include assisting with constituent correspondence, giving U.S. Capitol tours, and supporting staff members across various departments. Interns are also encouraged to attend committee hearings, briefings, and other educational opportunities throughout Washington, D.C., to broaden their understanding of public policy and government operations.
Intern Job Responsibilities:
Researching legislation and assisting staff with special projects
Working with the communications team on things like social media posts and press releases
Assisting with the drafting of constituent correspondence
Answering phones and organizing incoming correspondences from constituents
Conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol
Other projects as assigned
Intern Qualifications and Skills:
College students from the Upstate of South Carolina are preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
