Congressman William Timmons (SC-04) released the following statement on President Biden’s State of the Union address:

“Our nation is in a state of self-inflicted crisis that has escalated into global catastrophe. Americans are paying more for just about everything, the crisis at our border is only getting worse, our energy independence has been severely compromised, crime is skyrocketing, our allies no longer trust us, and our enemies no longer fear us. We are seeing the consequences of this administration’s weak leadership here at home and now abroad with Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

“Tonight I did not hear anything new to address these pressing issues. Instead, Biden doubled down on his same failed progressive policies. The only thing that has changed is this administration’s sudden shift on COVID-19. It is clear that Biden’s abysmal poll numbers now drive the science of the pandemic. The leader of the party who wanted to keep schools closed and fire Americans who chose not to get vaccinated now wants to claim victory. The hypocrisy is astounding.

“Actions speak louder than words. So far, President Biden’s actions have done nothing to address these crises—he has only made them worse. We need real, common-sense solutions for these problems. Until then, the state of our nation will continue to decline under President Biden.”
