Timmons Bill Renaming Greenville VA Clinic in Honor of Dana Darnell Passes House

Legislation introduced by Rep. William Timmons (SC-04) to rename the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) outpatient clinic in Greenville, SC the "Lance Corporal Dana Cornell Darnell Outpatient Clinic" passed the House of Representatives with bipartisan support. Dana Cornell Darnell of Greenville was awarded the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism during the Vietnam War. H.R. 5943 will now head to the Senate for consideration.
“A native of Greenville, Lance Corporal Dana Cornell Darnell was a true hero during the Vietnam War,” said Rep. William Timmons (SC-04). “Renaming the Greenville VA clinic in honor of Lance Corporal Darnell will ensure we never forget the courage, service, and sacrifice of our fellow South Carolinian. I am proud to lead this legislation to rename the Greenville VA Clinic after Lance Corporal Darnell and appreciate the support of my colleagues to memorialize this Greenville native and his sacrifice in service to our great nation.” Rep. Timmons introduced H.R. 5943 on November 9, 2021. Cosponsors of H.R. 5943 are Representatives Nancy Mace (SC-01), Joe Wilson (SC-02), Jeff Duncan (SC-03), Ralph Norman (SC-05), James Clyburn (SC-06), and Tom Rice (SC-07).
