Timmons Statement on National Security Votes
Washington,
April 20, 2024
Congressman William Timmons (SC-04) released the following statement after voting to support our allies in Israel and the Indo-Pacific:
“Joe Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and his weakness on the world stage have diminished our national security, emboldened our enemies, and endangered our allies. Since Joe Biden took office, he has catered to the anti-Semitic, woke liberals who believe Israel, our greatest ally in the Middle East, does not have the right to exist and refused to get tough on China, all while leaving our southern border wide open, allowing terrorists, criminals, and people who seek to do America harm direct entry into our country. “The current occupant of the White House continues to put us in a perilous position, one we cannot ignore. Today the House took action to defeat and deter our enemies, something Joe Biden is unwilling to do. While I believe it is in our nation’s best interest for Ukraine to prevail and defeat Vladimir Putin, I also agree with President Donald Trump that the United States should not be a disproportional backer of Ukraine compared to European nations, and opposed nearly $61 billion for Ukraine. My votes today in support of Israel and the Indo-Pacific region do what Joe Biden will not—support our allies, oppose the dangerous terrorist group Hamas, stand up to China, and show that the U.S. will not sit idly by while our emboldened enemies threaten us around the world.” |
