Timmons Attends Lockheed Martin F-16 Production Line Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The new line brings over 400 jobs and millions of dollars of economic development to the Upstate.

Greenville, SC -- Today, Congressman William Timmons (SC-04) attended the ribbon cutting for Lockheed Martin’s new F-16 Fighting Falcon production line in Greenville. The new line brings over 400 jobs and millions of dollars of economic development to the Upstate.

“It is an honor for our district to be chosen to produce the fourth generation of the world’s most successful, combat-proven fighter jet. Lockheed Martin selected the Upstate because of our business-friendly environment and the quality of our workforce,” Timmons said. “We consistently attract companies because of our people’s incredible work ethic and expertise in manufacturing.”

Lockheed Martin has been a part of the Greenville community for 35 years. Their facility provides nose-to-tail aircraft maintenance including modification, repair, and overhaul services for both military and civilian aircraft, and is now home to the F-16 Fighting Falcon production line. More than 29 customers in 28 countries are currently in line to purchase the new F-16s.

“I am excited that Lockheed Martin has decided to expand its investment in the Upstate. Our people and our businesses produce products that reach the entire world, and now that list includes some of the best military aircraft in the world. I hope we can continue this partnership for years to come,” Timmons said.

In March 2019, the U.S. State Department approved the sale of 25 new F-16 Block 72 aircrafts and F-16V upgrades for Morocco. This sale will be finalized after Congress’ 30 day statutory review period.
