Timmons Statement on HHS Religious Liberty Announcement

Greenville, SC – Congressman William Timmons released the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services announced their decision Friday to roll back a regulation which had threatened the religious liberty of faith-based foster care providers across the country, including Miracle Hill Ministries in Greenville.

“Faith-based child placing agencies have long been a crucial partner in providing homes for foster children, especially in South Carolina. But because of an ill-advised and hastily implemented regulation from the Obama Administration, faith-based agencies were forced into the impossible situation of having to choose between continuing to adhere to their religious beliefs or continuing to provide homes for vulnerable children," said Congressman Timmons. "With this news from HHS, faith-based foster care providers such as Miracle Hill Ministries will no longer be faced with this choice. I am glad the Trump Administration has taken this important step and look forward to this new rule being finalized in the months ahead.”
