Timmons Statement on Additional Funding For Coronavirus Relief
Washington, DC,
April 23, 2020
The House of Representatives today passed H.R. 266, the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act, to provide an additional $484 billion for relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. Congressman William Timmons (SC-04) released the following statement: “The Paycheck Protection Program has been a lifeline for America’s small businesses and workers. With the first round of funding, the Small Business Administration was able to approve over 1.6 million forgivable loans, including nearly 23,000 to South Carolina employers valued at $3.8 billion. The additional funding I supported today is estimated to save another 398,000 jobs in South Carolina according to the U.S. Joint Economic Committee. This bill also includes funding for our hospitals who have lost revenue and increased testing. I am disappointed it took Congress over two weeks to pass this legislation, but more relief for small businesses is finally on the way.” ### |
