Timmons Votes No on Pelosi’s Partisan Legislation

The House of Representatives today passed H.R. 6800, the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act, a 1,815 page, $3 trillion partisan spending package. Congressman William Timmons (SC-04) opposed this bill and released the following statement:

“With over 33 million Americans and 12.5% of South Carolinians currently unemployed, Speaker Pelosi brought members of Congress to Washington not to safely restart our economy or get us back to work, but to vote on a political messaging bill. Today’s bill will never be signed into law, or even brought to the Senate floor, and voting on it sends the wrong message to the American people. Congress has the responsibility to take serious problems seriously. We need to approach relief legislation in a thoughtful and bipartisan way. It is our responsibility to do everything we can to get millions of people and businesses back on their feet and restore our previously booming economy, and unfortunately, nothing we did today made any progress towards fulfilling that obligation.”
